Malta is known as a sunny country, having little annual rainfall along with its fair amount of wind.   We really do have great weather, though everything has its downside.

Yes, our climate is usually warm and dry, excellent for enjoying our beaches and countryside — enjoyable whatever the season.

But, unfortunately, the dryness also extends to the mentality of many Maltese people. Whilst our national character seems to love the great outdoors, it is still a minority who sincerely appreciate and protect our natural environment. Many are still rather passive about the issue while many others don't know any better than to litter and destroy natural beauty.

Thankfully, both the Government and non-governmental organizations, such as Malta's own Nature Trust are doing their best to beautify our islands with tree planting and garden upkeep.   If only more people were educated! If only nobody vandalized our environment!
